Girl Devastated After Homeless Man Her Family Helped Stabbed Her Mother & Brother To Death

A heartbroken daughter whose mother and brother were stabbed to death in a brutal attack at their home laid flowers today where they died.

Lydia Wilkinson's world was turned upside down when her mother Tracey, 50, and 13-year-old brother Pierce were slain by an attacker at their Stourbridge home on Thursday. Her father Peter, 47, was gravely wounded when the thug repeatedly plunged a carving knife into his back and front before fleeing in the family's Land Rover.

Lydia, 18, today laid a purple bouquet outside her home, comforted by her boyfriend Will Thompson and his family, who also laid flowers next to the scores of tributes left by devastated friends and neighbours. The Bristol University biology student said a silent prayer before kneeling down to read some of the heartfelt messages.

In a statement issued on behalf of Lydia, which she was too upset to read, she paid tribute to her 'wonderful' mother and 'fun loving' brother, before clarifying that suspect Aaron Barley never lived in the family home.

She confirmed the family had 'assisted' the 23-year-old homeless man, who yesterday appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

The statement read: 'Our family are devastated at the loss of Tracey and Pierce.

'They were extremely loved by all of their family and friends.

'Pierce was a fun loving, friendly and happy boy, who loved computer games and made everyone smile.

'Tracey was loving, caring and a wonderful mother and daughter. Always putting others before herself.

'The family did not provide refuge for homeless people and Aaron Barley had never lived at the family home, but had been assisted by the family in the past 12 months.

'We would like to express our gratitude to the emergency services, and to thank hospital staff for their excellent care.

'We would appreciate privacy and respect during this distressing time.'

Lydia's boyfriend Will hugged his distraught girlfriend as she admired the flowers, balloons and gifts outside her home.

Lydia held back the tears before going behind the police van to read the tributes in private.
