Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is delighted to have matched the goals tally of former Brazilian striker Ronaldo, for the Spanish club.

Benzema over the weekend equalled the 104 goals of Ronaldo scored during his time at the Bernabeu, after the French striker bagged a brace in the 4-2 defeat of Villareal on Saturday.

While Ronaldo needed 177 games to score the goals,Benzema did his in 215 games adding that he feels proud and that it was “amazing” to be on the same mark with the Brazilian.

“I am really happy because to reach a player of his size is simply amazing,” Benzema told Spanish Sports daily AS. “Ronaldo is, for me, together with Zizou (Zinedine Zidane), the best player in history. I feel very proud to have been able to score the same number of goals, and this makes me work even harder now.”

“He inspired me in many things,” the 26-year old added. “First, the ease with which he scores goals of course. But I also learned a lot from him about movement in front of the opposition goal. I have followed Ronaldo since I was a boy, and before Madrid games I still watch videos of him playing.”
